Hello.

Does anyone know if it is worth it to re-use DLT IV tapes
that were previously used in a system with DLT4000 drives?
We have a new system with DLT7000 drives and I would
like to reuse the old tapes, if possible. If it is not worth
it, we can buy new ones. However, this can be expensive.
Both the old and the new systems use Netbackup.

I wasn't sure if there was some kind of header or something
written to the tape when used in the DLT4000 drives that
would make it inefficient to use in the DLT7000 drive. Time
is of the essense (of course) with us when doing a backup/restore
and if it will slow things down, we will just use new media.

Should we just import the old tapes into our robot and then
expire them before using? Should we "degauze" (sp?) them first?

Any opinions or previous experiences would be appreciated.
