[Networker] SV: [Networker] Moving Networker software from one server to another
2013-09-17 07:41:55
Hi Ron,
What you would normally do is to do full backup with bootstrap on the old
server and then do a disaster recovery on the new server. That way you would
move the whole networker installation. Be aware that you will need to do a
"host transfer" of your licenses. But you can run for a total of 45 days on the
new server with the old licenses just as long as it doesn't "see" the old
server on the network.
The management GUI called NMC is a java web-start based system, and runs fine
on every platform that has a Oracle(Sun) java installation. The NMC server can
be the networker server itself, a storage node or any other PC or server that
can reach the NetWorker server through the network. EMC recommends that you do
not install NMC on your NetWorker server, but many people do without issues.

Is there a document somewhere which outlines what needs to be done to
transfer/move Networker from one server to another server?
Also is there a Unix-based management GUI or only a Windows version?
thanks
