Hey Michael,

I got one of our windows sysadmins to script the change for us ... I'm pretty
sure the Networker installer restricts the permissions on the file so that only
the Local System, and possibly members of the Local Admin group for that client
have full control ...

>From memory the process that he used:
Copy a new servers file to a location on the server that was accessible
to his admin account
Copy a script to the local server to the same location
This script would move the file into place (the nsr/res folder)
and then restart the networker remote exec service
Remotely run the script as the local system account

I'll see if I can post the script(s) a bit later

Hope that this helps ..

Mat

I'm not (yet) trying to update the servers file, I am trying to copy the
current one to a new name, as a backup. You don't need to stop the service to
do that (at least, when I do it locally, you don't need to stop the service to
make a copy of the file in the same location).

I've tried everything from doing it programmatically using Powershell, to doing
a standard copy command from the shell. No joy.

Z:\>COPY \\dctrvmw002\C$\"Program Files\Legato\nsr\res\servers"
\\dctrvmw002\C$\"Program Files\Legato\nsr\res\servers.TST"
\\dctrvmw002\C$\Program Files\Legato\nsr\res\servers Access is denied.
        0 file(s) copied.

If I log onto that particular server's console, I can make as many copies of
that file as I like.
