Joe,

What I have found is that once NetWorker has filled the current tape in the
drive the next tape it will select is the first tape in the group of most
recently labeled tapes.

For instance say you have tapes 1,2,3,4,5 in the library. 1 is full 2 is
partially full and in the tape drive and 3,4,5 are empty. Now if you add tapes
6,7,8 and label only them then after tape 2 is filled the next tape selected
will be 6. The way I get around that is when I add tapes I label 3,4,5,6,7,8
so tape 3 will be the next one selected.

I hope that explanation is clear enough.

Hi All,

Win2k8 Server / Legato 7.6.4. Tape Library HP MSL2024 LTO5.

My question is about Legato skipping tapes then returning to them later. Here
is what I'm seeing:

Legato wrote tape 0019 until full, skipped tape 0020 and 0021, then wrote 640GB
to tape 22 which is still appendable, then went back to tape 20 and has written
127GB and counting to that tape.

Ideas about this strange behavior?

Thanks,

Joe
