Good afternoon, all.

I have a box that was updated in-place from Networker 7.6.2 to 8.0.1.
Everything went smoothly for about a week until a system reboot (after some
patches).

After the reboot, the media index was empty and no tapes had labels. Long
story short, after a junior analyst uninstalled and re-installed the app rather
than just re-discovering the library, our media index and networker configs are
zero'd out.

I have the original lgto_gst.db files and can copy them into the new c:\Program
Files\EMC Networker\Management\ folder but when the services are started, the
config is still zero'd out.

I've tried mmrecov to no avail. Because Networker will not mount the tape in
one of the drives, I cannot run scanner. Despite the Emulex control panel
stating that the drives are \\.\Tape0 through 3, it says that there is no such
device.

I've tried manually moving the tape into the drive using the library's tools
and can see the tape in the drive. It simply will not mount. Very strange.

Any ideas? I'd hate to lose a year's worth of backups.

Like I say, I have a pre-existing lgto_gst.db that was created during the
install of 8.0.1 but it doesn't seem to work.

For info, the library is an HP EML-245e.

As an aside, if a tape gets re-labeled, is the data on it lost forever? I was
*thinking* about labeling a tape and mounting it in networker but don't want to
lose any data.

Cheers,

--Sean
