I've had a case open with EMC about this issue for some time with no luck to a 
resolution.

Here's the workaround steps.  At this point, the customer needs to move to a NW 
8.0 build that is past build 177. Because the get extension list fix was added 
in that build.
 
Step:
1.            Run ndmpsup program to get the vendor name:
                a. ndmpsup -c ndmp_client_name -o any_file_name
                b. -o option will query all ndmp info of that particular filer 
to a file.
                c. Open the file through vi:              
 
# vi any_file_name         
                                                                
Negotiated NDMP Version = 4

2.            Change directory to /nsr/debug:
                a. Touch  file ndmpgetextlist_disable_VENDOR_NAME
                b. Vendor name with spaces use double quotes.
                        i. Example: touch "ndmpgetextlist_disable_BlueArc Corp"
                        ii. Note: the vendor name has to be the same as listed 
in the file.
 
3.            Once the file is in /nsr/debug, ndmp operation should work with 
NW.

backup failed.
