Since this is a server for software packages, why bother backing it up? If the
server fails, wouldn't it be easier simply to copy the software back onto it
from the original media and/or any web sites?
If you really need to back up this server, consider making it a storage node or
dedicate storage node with direct access to whatever backup device you use.
