I have about 140 clients. :-) And I have 4 pools - a PRD (Production pool
- basically non-clone, straight to tape), a CLONE pool, a pool for AFTD
devices (which is what gets cloned), and a separate pool for bootstraps
and client file indexes.
I don't have separate pools for end of month runs - I run a script that
queries the savesets for the specific date range for the EOMs, and changes
the retention dates to be +7 years, and marks the tapes those savesets are
on as READ-ONLY. We do daily differentials and Friday FULLs for almost
everything. The CLONE jobs are all SQL server backups, using the SQL
Module, and those are all FULL (we don't like incremental SQL backups).
