What I like about Spectralogic is that has LTO-5 key management built into the
tape library. When I was shopping for this tape library, I looked at Quantum,
but their encryption key management required setting up a separate server. I
do not know if that is still the case, but I wanted something simple and easy
to manage. Having to manage keys on a separate server struck me as more
complicated than necessary for my modest needs. With the Spectralogic, one can
set the keys either via a web page or on the tape library's front panel touch
screen display. The tape library supports multiple keys, but for just one or
two tape drives, using more than one encryption key is probably overkill. The
Spectralogic tape library also has a USB port on the back where they keys can
be saved for off-site storage to a thumb drive, which is included with the tape
library.
