The problem is due to Number of files (files + directories) limitation on our
D2D device (max 25000/share). We can have limited number of large files, but
can not exceed 25000 limit.
There are no active backups, we did even unmount/mount device, no problem there
(device not busy)
D2D device's interface reports (real-time) count of files and dirs, I
temporarily deleted a file, and checked the count reduce immediately.
"Our backups can continue" .. Our backups are stuck/failing due to 25000
limitation imposed by the D2D device, available space is not an issue (we still
have over 1 TB space left on the device). Its the files+dirs count affecting
our ability to do backups (not even able to create files manually on the share,
once we are going past 25000 limit).
We did nsrmm -dy -S to remove a few hundreds of savesets, then ran nsrim -X a
few times, space and files are not being cleared-up on the share.
(again, our emphasis is to reduce number of files/dirs, space is not an issue)
Thanks
Sree
