Folks:
We have some data from clients, part of a Networker "SQL-Dumps" SaveGroup -
which is on Weekly (Friday full) schedule. Currently our backups go from
Client X: drive (SQL Dumps data: DeDuped and compressed using LiteSpeed.
Lots of data/size!) to HP VLS (Tape Emulation, a D2D Disk device), then
from VLS Cloned every nightly to LTO-4 Tape for offiste/longterm storage.
Due to (un)DeDupe and redundant-copy reasons, we would like to provide
Tape-only backup to these X: drives (SQL Dumps). But, we would like to
continue our current configuration of let Backups go to VLS first, then
Clone from VLS to Tape. After cloning we would like to relieve VLS space
by letting Networker expire these X: SQL-Dump group/savesets.
We would like to continue to do daily-incrementals with Friday-Full
schedule for these Dumps (there is some un-changed dumps on X:, so daily
incremental savesets are smaller than Friday Fulls; Hence, we don't
necessarily don't want to do Evereday Full with 1-2 day retention)
Ie., like to continue to do Weekly schedule (Daily Incr, Friday Full) -
but would like to expire data from VLS/D2D in 2-3 days (after cloning to
Tape finished).
Now, is there a way to achieve this in Networker 7.6?
We can think of achieving this with a Scheduled Task, manually expiring
etc., but would rather have Networker manage this task (ie.,
Expiring/cleaning savesets from VLS, freeing space on VLS)
Thanks,
Sree
