I'm planning on upgrading my Win NW 7.5.2 server (and 7 storage nodes) to
NW 7.6.2. I remember the last couple times I upgraded, I just ran the
upgrade - I did not uninstall first, which is the recommended method by
the Networker Procedure Generator. So my question is: if I uninstall
Networker, won't it remove all my history? I'd really prefer not to have
to do a "mmrecov" and "nsrck -L7". So how can I keep all my clients, media
history, etc?
At one of my remote sites that uses the Workgroup Edition of NW, I made a
copy of the /nsr, /mm and /res folders and just copied them back after the
upgrade. However, I also remember having issues with enabler codes not
being properly recognized. (that may have been something unique to that
installation, however).
So: when I upgrade this weekend, do I need to keep a copy of /mm and /res
around, and just copy back after it's done? Or is there a better
(hopefully easier :-)) way?
