I think you might get different opinions on this, mainly because of
disaster recovery issues, but I don't see a problem with it.

We have 3 networker servers, and about 15 storage nodes total. We
chose to put NMC on one of our very small backup servers (10 total
clients), and it runs just fine.

You can run it on a small workstation, if you chose. We just like the
fact that it is part of a backup server, and backups aren't any issue.

We did try to put it on our of storage nodes one time, but during
backups at peak times (midnight to 6am), we couldn't connect - it would
time out. So, if you find out your processor(s) is busy, and can't
respond, you will have to find another machine.

Good luck..

We will shortly be installing our new hardware for backup. A new server
running Windows 2008 R2 with an LTO-4 library. Our system is rather
small compared to some of yours. We back up 18 servers with a total of
about 2.6 TB per week. We only have one storage node which is also the
server.

Is there any good reason not to install the Networker Management Console
on the server in this type of installation?

Thanks, Dave
