I'd like to ask to keep things simple, and avoid too many features.

There's one question: which features to add.

But there is also the delicate question: which features to REMOVE.

Examples:
1) how to disable the VSS 'feature' on W2008?
this 'VSS support feature' is more like a bug in W2008
there's no incremental VSS backups for system save sets,
so I'd rather disable the feature, remove it from NetWorker
the base NetWorker product could be VSS unaware,
and for example if you like VSS, you could put all of VSS in NMM

2) the 'nsrauth' feature gives certificate support
but does somebody really NEED this ? Looks like everybody uses oldauth.
I have the impression that everybody is disabling certificate support

So the nsrauth feature could be removed?

3) Windows cluster support: the feature that NW supports the cluster;
sometimes it feels like a bug, would be nice to run NW cluster unaware

The problem that I see with adding more and more features that somebody
thinks would be nice, is that it also has undesired side-effects.

For example 'nsrauth' - even if you disable it and use 'oldauth'
it still, in some cases, requires the correct OpenSSL shared libs to
be present, even if you use 'oldauth'.

Besides, the example of the 'nsrauth' feature is perhaps a good example,
who really needs this feature (on this list)? Just curious ...

It just makes the product more difficult to install, less portable ...

DAvid.
