Suggest you use the NMM Pre-Install Config Checker to check the Exchange
environment as a majority of NW/NMM issues are related to Windows and
application settings. You can find the config checker on PowerLink in
the NW/NMM download section.

Hi All,
I'm attempting to use the Networker Module for MS apps to backup
Exchange data but not getting anywhere fast !
Can backup data fine using the Exchange agent.
I'm using networker 7.6, with NMM 2.2.1, Exchange 2003 SP2, Windows 2003
SP1. Using a custom schedule to perform daily fulls only.
The exchange user account is had admin rights in Exchange, is in domain
admins & backup operators
I have created config as per the documentation, with snapshot
pool/profile & added remote host into Admin group.
I can perform file system backup and restore fine using VSS and
specifying a path ie F:\Logs, however when I try to reference
APPLICATIONS:\Microsoft Exchange Writer as the save set, the fails with
"Format string Save set name %S is valid cannot be rendered correctly"
Application info :
NSR_SNAP_TYPE=vss
NSR_ALT_PATH=C:\REPLICA_MOUNT
when I look in the application event viewer I can see the VSS writer
being successfully initiated "NMM initialisation of VSS writers has
completed", then the next entry is "NMM failed to complete successfully"
...
messages shows :

The save set info I have given is the output of "nsrsnap_vss_save -?"
run locally on the exchange host
Any help would be appreciated as I'm chasing my tail now [Crying or

Out of curiosity, how many people are using the NMM instead of App
modules such as SQL or Exchange ?
