your scanner -i is updating the media database and the client file indexes with
what is on that volume you are scanning. Depending on the tape capacity, and
the "effective" parallelism or streams writing to the volume at time of backup,
the scanner -i can take a long time.
For the purpose of finding your bootstrap, you are better to use "scanner -m"
so that it just updates the media database.
Take a look at the NetWorker performance tuning guide, and/or search the
knowledgebase to find out how to increase the max block size on your windows
host. The Windows default is 64K, and to change this, you have to add a
parameter called MaximumSGList and set it to 65 decimal (giving 256KB block
size max). Usually, this parameter is added to to the registry key for your
tape drive controller, HOWEVER you need to consult your h/w support for your
controller to get the definitive answer for how it is done for your
controller.[/quote]
