Apologies, i was focussing on the validation of the media or data
question, and had thought the cloning was used with the -S, not -f .

I took the validation to be the reason for the mail.

I may be misunderstanding your question, but cloning "Demultiplexes" the

It's been quite a long time since NetWorker demultiplexed clones. It's
"assumed knowledge" that frequently trips up long-term NetWorker users
when we've come from long enough ago that it used to do it...

It will only do so if the saveset(s) you have elected to clone just
simply aren't multiplexed together. (E.g., when cloning ADV_FILE ->
tape, or a single saveset at a time.)

This has been documented in various tests, discussions on this list and
PowerLink solutions  (e.g.,
https://solutions.emc.com/emcsolutionview.asp?id=esg58935) and Curtis
did a set of confirmation tests & blogged about it in 2008
(http://www.backupcentral.com/content/view/41/47/)

Cheers,

Preston.
