Hi George

I don't have the manuals and cannot check this now but I know it is documented that cross-OS recoveries are not possible (or supported). Not even between different flavours of unix.

Thanks to all who responded. There's no reason that we can't recover to a Windows box. I was just curious if it was possible to recover to a Unix box. I didn't think so, but in case something had changed since 6.x. or someone knew of some technique, I thought I'd inquire.

I can run nsinfo to see what was backed up on a Windows client to our
Unix primary backup server. Does anyone know if NW will let you recover
those files to a Unix server, assuming that Unix client has permission
to browse the Windows client's data?

I'm not trying to recover Registry files or anything weird like that,
just text files, pdf, etc. I recall that in older versions of NW that if
I tried this it would not allow me, and I had to recover them to Windows
box or maybe I'm confusing that with browsing those files from a Unix box?

Can it be done and if so is there some special method to do it?

George
