The problem I had was entirely different. What happened in my case was that the
backup would either crash immediately or at some point before it should have
ended normally, but it never hung. In my experience, hung backups can often
occur on Windows servers due to a firewall issue, so if you haven't looked into
that yet, I suggest you do so. Can you do a regular backup (i.e., just back up
C:\ and the VSS stuff) on that client?
