Hello,
Running NSR7.4 on Windows, I discovered a strangeness
I cannot explain my-self yet :
I always believed that setting up a different retention
policy to a pool will protect volume from being overwritten
a longer period than the one defined by oldest stored SSIDs
retention date the volume contains, and this, by forcing
SSIDs written to that pool a longer retention period
if ssid/cloneid's retention date is shorter than
the assigned pool retention policy. Looks logic and like
the doc.
Reality I see is that retention policy is overwritten for
all copies of the SSID, not only on the SSID copy written
in the "extended retention" pool. So, pool retention policy
is applied on SSID level, not on SSID/Cloneid level.
It does by the way overwrite ssretention of "normal" pool
with board effect on tape recycling.
Eg :
Backup pool : Clients configured for 5 weeks retention.
Clone pool : Pool based 10 weeks retention.
Cloning only FULLS.
Expected results:
In Backup pools, all backups to have retention set as 5 Weeks,
In Clone pool, cloned copies set to 10 Weeks.
Effective results:
In Backup pools,
all NOT CLONED backups to have retention set as 5 Weeks,
all CLONED backups to have retention set as 10 Weeks,
In Clone pool, cloned copies set to 10 Weeks.
Am I wrong somewhere ? Shouldn't overrulled pool retention
policy to only apply on SSID/Clone id level ?
What's goal of pool's retention policy in such a case ?
My goal was to assign savegroup-based autocloned SSID a longer
retention period the normal backup copy seen now SSID copies
to support different retention date ...
Bug or expected behavior ... ?
Th
