That's one of the main reasons I'm moving it to a new server.

I was having horrible performance issues - groups not completing, RPC
communication errors, etc. EMC told me that NMC should *not* be installed
on a backup server that serviced more than about 40 clients. (which was
news to me, since I have about 100 clients, and had always installed
(altho not always run) NMC on the server).
Uninstalled NMC from the server itself (leaving the existing installation
NMC on my workstation), and all my problems went away ...
