Re: [Networker] NetWorker 7.6 Binaries/Installers now available on PowerLink

I just tried to install the 7.6 32-bit linux (linux86) client (lgtoclnt
and lgtoman) and nsrexecd wouldn't start up because of problems with
some ssl library -- so early in the process it didn't even open and log
in the daemon.raw file.
So, then I went back to 7.4.5.2 client and tried to install the 7.6
nmc. That one failed trying to convert language files. /sigh
Back to running the 7.4.5.2 nmc. /sigh
I swear the land our data center is built on must be cursed.

I just finished testing NMC 7.6 with NW 7.4.5.2 on a test Windows box, it does
look like a worthwhile NMC upgrade. Thanks for the pointer Preston.

If you're wanting to see the enhancements to monitoring while
downloading the packages and documentation for testing, you can find a
brief overview here: http://bit.ly/8G894R
I agree with you blog assessment -- this is a great reason to upgrade to
NMC 3.6, even if you wait on the actual NetWorker upgrade.
Have you, by chance, tested NMC from 7.6 with Networker 7.5.x and 7.4.x?
Any oddities that you noticed?
I don't actually recall testing with 7.4.x, but I don't see why it wouldn't
work. Downwards compatibility is always a lot easier.
I did a number of tests though with 7.5.1 and its various patch releases though
and never noticed any issues.
Cheers,
Preston.
