At least in 7.5.1 there is a "Max parallelism" in the pool settings that is supposed to do exactly that. Not quite sure in what version it got there though. Haven't tested it either
"Max parallelism" in the pool resource specifies the maximum number of save sets that may be multiplexed to a volume in the pool. It can override a device's Target sessions and Max sessions. For example, if a device has "Target sessions" set to 6 and a pool has "Max parallelism" set to 2, when any volume from that pool is mounted on the device, no more than 2 save sets will be multiplexed on the volume.
