We're about to do a hardware refresh too, and I contemplated the same thing 
until I noticed that none of the tape drive units had 2008 drivers yet (we're 
running an ADIC i2k with IBM LTO3's and LTO4's).  Hoping to go to 64bit 2003 
now.....
