In regard to: [Networker] replacing a drive in an l8500, nw 7.5.0, Rick Pim...:

solaris 5.10
networker 7.5.0
l8500 with 3xLTO Ultrium-3, fiber-connected

i had one of the drives in this library go bad. field service
replaced it but networker doesn't want to use it -- i'm getting
the following error logged:

Sep 9 14:10:30 backup01 root: [ID 702911 daemon.notice] NetWorker media:
(alert) device "/dev/rmt/2cbn": serial number mismatch, check system device
 ordering. Expected "Serial Numbers:WWNN=50060B0000599F32:
 ATNN=HP      Ultrium 3-SCSI  HU10608MDL:HU10608MDL", found
 ":WWNN=50060B0000C30CDE:ATNN=HP Ultrium 3-SCSI
 MXP0932F8N:MXP0932F8N:WW2N=500104F0008FE017"

I had pretty much this exact problem when I upgraded one of our servers
from 7.4.2 to 7.4.5. For us, the drive had been replaced about 6 months
ago and 7.4.2 didn't care that the serial number had changed, but 7.4.5
kept logging messages similar to what you show above.

That field is a read-only attribute so you can't change it through NMC or
nsradmin. Very brave users could change it outside of NetWorker, but I
would not recommend doing that unless you really know what you're doing.

Your best bet is to delete the jukebox (make a note of your settings) and
recreate and re-apply any custom settings.

I posted the steps that I used (within nsradmin) last week, check the list
archives.
