Hello Kevin,

This is a known restriction in that version of the Solutions Enabler /
EMC VSS Provider. The restriction was lifted in the Provider that was
qualified with NMM 2.2. The SE with the fix is 6.5.2.28.

Thanks,
_Scott

Subject: [Networker] Exchange 2007 CCR Cluster-nmm/vss issues

We are new to Exchange and are setting up our production environment and
attempting to test backups and restores before moving forward with
moving live users to our environment. We have an Exchange 2007 CCR
cluster on Windows Server 2008 64-bit servers. We are setting up the
"serverless" environment where you use a proxy host (storage node) that
is presented a snapshot of the passive node from our Clariion.

Is there anyone out there using the NMM module and the vss provider from
EMC to backup an Exchange 2007 CCR cluster using Windows Server 2008?
We are having some issues with the EMC vss provider (solutions enabler)
installing a clustered DTC service into our environment, which is
causing COM+ errors. We have been through 4 different solutions enabler
versions (and 3 versions of the NMM) and are still having the problem.
Seems to us the solutions enabler is assuming there is a clustered DTC
service installed as well, which according to MS Exchange 2007
documentation, is not needed. We only have Exchange 2007 running as a
clustered service.

Has anyone else experienced a similar issue with Windows Server 2008?
If there is anyone out there successfully backing up an Exchange 2007
CCR cluster using the solutions enabler and NMM with MS Server 2008,
please let me know. I'd feel better knowing someone has it working with
EMC's provided solutions and that its a learning curve issue for us.

We are Networker 7.4.4 on Windows 2003 64-bit
Clustered Exchange servers are Windows 2008 64-bit
Networker Storage Node (proxy host) is Windows 2003 64-bit

NMM 2.1.1 (a patched version from EMC)
solutions enabler 6.5.2.8 (a patched version of EMC)
