understand, this is triggered by a staging policy.

As you say you are not missing any save sets and this doesn't correspond with any staging activity, the other option is the daily reclaiming of space that NetWorker does. Once every 24 hours it goes through and removes the savesets that have expired. If those savesets are on aftd's, it removes them from the disk. That may be what you are seeing here.
