We have been using the 32bit version from 7.2Jumbo to 7.3.4.
We talked to EMC support and when we commented that note, they comment
to use the 32-bit.
That note is in vesrions 7.4 and 7.5. We are going to update using 32 bits.

Thanks, and Excuse me my english

We had been using 64-bit networker on Red Hat ES 4 server for a couple of years. There were a number of crash issues, a patched nsrexecd, etc. When 7.3.3 came out we switched to 32-bit and have had fewer problems. There were no visible advantages to staying on the 64-bit version.

Subject: [Networker] Running the Linux 64-bit package with
the 2.6.x kernel may result in crashes

Hello;

we have a 64 bits Red Hat 4 AS server:
        OS: Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4 (Nahant Update 7)
        Kernel:Linux 2.6.9-78.0.13.ELlargesmp #1 SMP Wed Jan 7
18:02:41 EST 2009 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

We try update networker version from 7.3.3 to 7.4.4, the
problem is a
dependenci problem:

# rpm -ivh lgtoman-7.4.4-1.x86_64.rpm lgtoclnt-7.4.4-1.x86_64.rpm
lgtonode-7.4.4-1.x86_64.rpm lgtoserv-7.4.4-1.x86_64.rpm
lgtonmc-3.4.4-1.i686.rpm
error: Error de dependencias:
        libstdc++.so.5()(64bit) se necesita para
lgtoclnt-7.4.4-1.x86_64
        libstdc++.so.5(CXXABI_1.2)(64bit) se necesita para

lgtoserv-7.4.4-1.x86_64

Resolución sugerida:
        /var/spool/up2datecompat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-47.3.x86_64.rpm
#

we have installed 32 bits library and we could install the 64
bits library.

But reading release notes:
"""
Running the Linux 64-bit package with the 2.6.x kernel may
result in crashes (
LGTsc06585 )
A compatibility issue with libc and pthreads libraries on Linux 2.6
kernel-based
environments causes problems when running the 64-bit package
for Linux on
platforms built on the 2.6.x kernel (for example, RedHat AS 4
and SuSE
SLES 9).
Although operation may be normal at first, continued use of
the 64-bit package
with a 2.6.x kernel may result in crashes of various programs.
Use the 32-bit package when running with a 2.6.x kernel. Running a
32-bit package instead
of the 64-bit package should have no operational impact. The 64-bit
package can still be
used for kernel version 2.4 Linux variants such as RedHat AS 3 and
SuSE SLES 8.
"""

Should we install the 32 bits networker version, which implies that?
Anybody know when this error occurs? In all red hat 64 bits
or sometimes?

Regards and Excuse me my english ;

Arkaitz
