I agree with you. But I don't consider that PDF a SCSI standards
document. While some elements are standardized, I'm sure there are
vendor specific items in it. I think of it a vendor API to the drive.

The drive already conforms to the specification and can read the data,
so we don't have to. We "just" have to ask the drive to send it to us.
But if said command isn't in their public API, then I don't see how to
write an app to get that data.
