I've had an SL500 library for 2+ years (100 active slots, 3 bays: Base bay + 
drive expansion bay + LTO slots-only bay, 3 IBM LTO3 drives) and have yet to 
have any drive or tape transport failure.

When it arrived, I installed it myself (I'm an old hardware tech) so I know it 
was done right. Later I found out I was supposed to let Sun/StorageTek do the 
install. I did have to call them for the installer to come out and connect a 
laptop to enable the thing to work at all.
