We utilize dynamic drive sharing between multiple dedicated storage
nodes and physical tape drives. Our savegroups also use tapes from
multiple media pools. I have noticed that when a tape from one media
pool is left in a drive, the next savegroup scheduled to run using a
different media pool will fail with an error that hardware could not be
allocated to the savegroup. Automatically unmounting tapes following
savegroup completion frees up the physical tape drives to be used by the
next savegroup.

Thanks,

Josh

Just curious (and maybe I'm naive on this?), but why is there any
advantage in unmounting them? They'll just have to be reloaded for the
next backup, unless you're pulling them immediately after backups
complete. I've never done anything specific in jb setup to force
unmounting or not, and ours have always remained mounted after things
complete.
