From before when I was responsible for backups here, our Oracle DBA
(now the manager of all the DBA's) has insisted that he has to be in
control of when the Oracle db's are backed up. He has scripts that run
all hours of the day and night that shutdown a db, take a snapshot, and
then runs "save" and if it's a production db "nsrclone".
