Re: [Networker] Backing up remote laptops

HI,
This could be very costly proposition, i would recommend, limiting users
to save files to their home folders or using 3rd party tools to syn up
each users file to a central repository and then do a backup of it ( IBM
had nice tool to do this), you will need support from system admins and
to create policy regarding this, keeping track of 1000's of laptop is not
something i would look forward to.
Lastly, what impact it may have on server resources, backup times &
cloning , best to have some disciple around workstation instead, i do feel
that not very critical data resides there any way, if it does then it's
subject to security issues, disk failures and so forth.
HTH

Backing up remote laptops
Happy new year all. Looking to backup laptops in the field. Would like to
know what you all are doing. Straight Networker client, or a combo third
party and Networker? Been looking at third party like EMC and Symxntec,
also offline folders in Win2k3. Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.
