Hello,

Thanks for the quick response.  It's always been a habit of write
protecting the tapes we have that are full, plus we have tapes that go
offsite.  

You are correct as this causes havoc in networker.. :)

No there isn't. You only know about this when you try to write to the 
tape, which is typically during the backups and when there is no-one 
around to fix it. This can cause havoc with NetWorker.

The question is, why are you write-protecting your tapes, ever? There is

no real need to do this on a regular basis. If you are a bit paranoid, 
it might be prudent to write-protect a tape when you deposit it for the 
purpose of a restore, but the rest of the time, why bother?

Perhaps consider modifying your tape-handling procedures.
