Oops -- Sorry -- was off on vacation yesterday and responded in a hurry
(to keep the wife from getting really upset).
7.4.3 includes a fix LGTsc16781 which changed the way -R works....
that may be the cause of your problem. (As the culprit that
complained and got EMC to change the way -R works.... sorry).
So its YOUR fault...
Yes, all my fault. EMC told me they were going to fix the documentation
that was confusing and then called me back to test the code change
they'd made....
Specifically, on this particular server is a Dell PV-124T tape
library. It has a load port, but since we need to change several tapes
at a time, we eject the cartridge and replace the tapes manually, then
reinsert the cartridge.
Sounds familiar. We were in that same kind of boat with an old Qualstar
TLS-412300 we had. However, due to dirt and failed drives issues, I had
forced the operations staff to use that single I/O port to put tapes in
and out.
When I recycle I am explicitly specifying the pool, so Networker
knowing or not knowing what pool they were part of previously doesn't
matter either.
Well, it does -- because using -R says that NetWorker should already
know about the tape and just recycle it. Since NetWorker doesn't yet
realize the pool the tape is a member of (as the existing volume label
is not represented in the nsrjb -C output), it can't really recycle it
out of that pool into the one you request (I realize you are likely
recycling it into the same pool -- but NetWorker can't know that).
I'll try the -II option next time...
I believe adding that step will solve your problem.
