Re: [Networker] 36-slot Quantum Scalar 50 with 32-slot license?

Hello,
It seems that it's possible to make Networker ignore extra slots if your
license is less than total slots of autochanger.
Please check this technical note :
Goal: How to make NetWorker ignore extra slots if one has license of less
number of slots
Goal: License/operate the jukebox as "n" number of slots instead of "n+x" slots
Fact: NetWorker
Fact: Has a license of autochanger for n slots (where n is the number of slots
needed)
Change: Adding a new jukebox with (n+x) slots(where x is the true total number
of slots available)
Fix: For NetWorker 6.x:
1. Shutdown NetWorker services
2. Change the available slots and physical slots from the nsrjb.res file to
"1-n" instead of "1-(n+x)"
3. Start NetWorker services.
4. Configure the jukebox.
Note: For NetWorker 7.x, you no longer have the nsr resource files separate,
but all in one resource file called nsrdb. Therefore, what you have to do is
similiar to above however:
1. Shutdown NetWorker services
2. Go to nsradmin prompt: nsradmin> . type: NSR jukebox
3. Then you are going to have to go to and edit the nsr_jukebox resource and
change the physical slot numbers to "1-n" from "1-(n+x)".
4. Restart NetWorker services.
5. Reconfigure the jukebox.

Objet : [Networker] 36-slot Quantum Scalar 50 with 32-slot license?
Hi,
I'm considering replacing my current tape library with a new Quantum Scalar 50.
The new tape library has 36 slots but my Networker Autochanger license is only
valid for 32 slots. Does anybody know whether it's possible to limit the
Quantum Scalar 50 so it reports only
32 slots? I downloaded the manual for the library but couldn't find anything
about this (there is something about 'load ports' which seems to be able to do
this but it's totally unclear to me how this functions). I don't want to end
up having to disable half of my slots to be able to get below the 32-slot mark.
Thanks in advance,
Nico
