I think this is a marketing ploy for EMC to try and create some reason
why a customer would actually want to hang on to Networker.

No offense, but I don't see this as a compelling reason to choose one
version over the other, especially if you don't own avamar (which is
very expensive).

Do you have a plan to get to avamar? Why would you even need NW if you
have avamar? I am guilty of not knowing the benefits of having this NW
and avamar arrangement.

It looks like 7.3 is a completely different set of code than 7.4, with a
completely different set of patches and problems.

Avamar plugs into Networker in version 7.4.1 and is compatible with the
7.3.3 
clients.
