Ah, that's another good one for Curtis' list.

When you mark a tape "Read Only" in NetWorker, it really means more like
"Not Currently Appendable". NetWorker won't add any more savesets to
that
tape while it's "Read Only".

The savesets on that tape are still subject to NetWorker's normal browse
and retention policies, though. In the absence of other savesets (on
other tapes) that depend on these savesets, when each saveset on the
tape
passes its browse period, the list of files contained in that saveset
will be expired from the appropriate client index (i.e. that particular
saveset is now recyclable).

When all savesets on the tape are recycleable, the tape then becomes
eligible for recycling. When NetWorker needs a tape for backups, it
will
look for tapes that can be relabelled. Even if a tape is marked "Read
Only", NetWorker will happily relabel the tape and start using the tape
for new savesets.

The upshot is that marking a tape as "Read Only" will NOT prevent
NetWorker's normal saveset and media expiry and recycling. If you want
a tape to hang around past browse and retention, you probably want a
combination of "Read Only" and "Manually Recycleable".
