Finally got my hands on Sun's 7.4 media kit (for those curious, it includes jre
1_5_0_11 which may be DST compliant - hard to tell since my copy on the DVD is
corrupt, go figure). After spending the night reading the release notes, I've
got a couple concerns:
LGTpa89947 - cannot deposit a volume from CAP using 'nsrjb -d' - Instead you're
supposed to use -T with both -d and -a to update the databases. I need
confirmation that this is with ALL jukeboxes or just silos (I have an unlimited
slot license, so do not know if it counts). Personally I'm thrilled if the -T
version is the one I need to use, since that will nearly duplicate my AlphaStor
behavior after that software removal (making life MUCH easier).
'A Sun EBS Server does not support a Sun EBS client running 7.0.x or earlier.'
- This is a bit of a deal-breaker if that's the case, since we have a few 6.x
clients because the OS is Sol-2.6 or 2.5.1 (don't ask). I'm going to assume
for now that 'does not support' means that we're SOL on support for any clients
running that, and should continue to work for now. However I need confirmation
either way.
[Advanced File Devices] - There was a thread a few months back mentioning that
old AFTDs were not working correctly after the migration (at least for new
saves). Any hints/pitfalls here would be extremely appreciated, since just
about everything hinges on our AFTDs migrating correctly (~60 TB of VxFS
volumes).
I am running under a Solaris/SPARC Server/SN environment (7.1.3), and will
continue to do so with this upgrade (probably in the summer). One of the main
reasons for the early access to software is to re-document the new GUI from
scratch for our Ops group (*insert grumbling about SOX, amongst other things*).
Huge Thanks,
