Try running an nsrim -X. This will crosscheck the media db against the
indexes. This should show an immediate change (if it's going to do anything)
without taking down NetWorker. Otherwise, shut down and cd to the
/nsr/mm/mmvolume6 directory and delete all clients, ss and vol files apart from
the .0 versions and restart.
However, I still wouldn't expect this situation to be occurring. If there's
still no joy, can you try running mminfo -D9 -vvv -avot -c <small client> and
posting the results? If you're doing this on Unix, can you truss the process?
An lsof (freeware, downloadable) against the nsrmmdbd process wouldn't go amiss
either. On Windows, get a hold of handle and process monitor from
www.sysinternals.com and check whether the media db has its files open, and
filter a run of mminfo using procmon.
Cheers,
Stuart.

Subject: [Networker] the invisible media database
My media database is currently empty when using the NMC or when using the
mminfo command. No volumes are shown. My weekend backups ran successfully using
the media in the library which is correctly listed with barcode name and pool.
I attempted a restore from one month ago and the correct tape was mounted and
restore completed. So in some way the networker server can see the media
database or I would have thought the backup and recovery would have failed.
This problem occured after a recovery of the server using bootstrap and
mmrecov. The media database was listed as being successfully recovered durirng
mmrecov.
How can this situation be occuring? If it was a bug in te NMC then I woudl
still expect mminfo to show some volumes.
The verison of Networker is 7.3. I want to upgrade it but the upgrade failed
reporting media database failure. What commands can I run on the media database
to check it. I have run nsrim -X on the client indexes.
Thanks
