Dear All,

My sales guy recommended to look at DataDomain device (disk based
appliance) as a possible replacement for the tape library.

Is he trying to sell you a VTL?

Anyone is using datadomain devices? Could you share your experience please.

I am, but the DD460 is where we are at -- just using them as AFTD's for the disk block de-duplication compression that is fantastic for our Oracle databases and email (mbox format folders).

I have not evaluated their VTL (nor am I really interested in doing so).
