Hi Don,

A few possibilities here:

A. Faulty SCSI cable
B. Faulty SCSI terminator
C. Dirty tape drive
D. Faulty tape drive

Cleaning tape might helps in this situation.

regards
VL

Check the log files /nsr/messages and /nsr/daemon as well as /var/adm/
messages for errors that match up with the times the device is
disabled.
