Actually, we're not in disagreement.  I'd be ok with giving you one vote
for every posting you've ever done to the list last year.  What I was
more concerned about is the general level of interest polls get.  If
there are 1800 members on this list, and only 20 people vote, then I
don't see that as a valid poll.
