Can the 32 bit kernel you're using right now see all of the 8GB of RAM
you currently have?  I wouldn't have expected that it could.

Even if it can, the address space of the processes on the system will
still be limited to less than 4 GB, so I doubt that more RAM is going to
be any help to you.
