You will certainly benefit by utilizing storage node on the VCB server 
that has VRanger.You are on the right tract, despite being new to 
Networker.
You should check into Licensing etc so you are not surprised that 
additional licences are needed.
I am assuming you have infrastructure in place which will support 
additional drives, SN etc.
I would be interested in your documentation of Vranger and backups once 
it's stabilized.
