Re: [Networker] NDMP Restore, Expired Savesets & Scanner

Hi,
looks like you have several problems.
1.) scanner -i don´t work with ndmp (will only insert SSIDs into mediadb
if lost for any reason)
so use scanner -m instead (only if SSIDs not exist in media DB)
2.) to rebuild the index for ndmp only "nsrck -L7 -t date clientname" work
after 1.) you should see SSIDs from the tape (but be carefull, if a
spanned saveset (over several tapes) you must user scanner on all tapes
and in correct order
increase browse or retention time in the client properties work only for
new savesets
for doing this for older savesets you have to use "nsrmm -w -e"
be careful with mminfo -av (only browseable savesets will be shown) - so
in this case you will see nothing
please try mminfo -q volume=barcode -r SSID,name, savetime, flag
there you should see the SSIDs - if not you have to do the scan for all
tapes
and after seeing alle SSIDs with mminfo (which means all Savesets are in
the MediaDB)
you can search for index saves of the mentioned client
mminfo -q name=index:clientname -r SSID, savetime, level
so you see which index you have and can be recovered.
Hope this help.

[Networker] NDMP Restore, Expired Savesets & Scanner
Hello,
I am attempting to restore an expired saveset on NetApp Filer, for some
reason, i don't seem to be able to scan the tapes with
scanner -i or m and view any savesets on the volume, scanner completes
fine but the volume tab shows no savesets.
There are total of 4 tapes in question for this saveset of NDMP type and
they are all behaving same way.
I have increased the BP & RP of the client in question but the saveset
still does not applier in the list of saveset recovery for the client.
I have also tried using nsrck -L7 -t "clientname" with the date from the
tape and Networker asks for different tapes then what i know to have the
saveset contained, i know this are the tape, since i had recovered the
same save set few days ago, using the same tapes, but at that time the
saveset were in media dB.
mminfo -av -V "volume name" does not display any saveset either.
What am i missing, do i need to scan on the NDMP device with different
switch ?
What is the best way to recover the expired saveset ?
Thanks
