Why would you choose a VTL then? Any thoughts?

NW understands tapes and is the worst backup product available for dealing with disk devices.

Good tape management says that if you have one (1) good saveset left on a tape, stage it off and recycle the tape.

A VTL gives you the advantage of disk and works to the strong point of NW (it knows how to deal with tape).

If NW really understood that disk is random access storage -- there wouldn't be any of this stupid limitation of two accesses. Yes, they've made good strides in letting multiple restores happen at once. But why not a stage and a clone (as long as they aren't for the same SSID)? Why not a backup, several restores, and a clone?
