We have a master server and four storage nodes. We were backing up alot
of data over firewalls - our network admin doesn't like - so we moved a
few storage nodes inside. In the ordered list of storage nodes for the
client, i have hostname and nsrserverhost because i want the index to
write to the master server. I am using DDS with SAN attached FC
devices. When a backup runs, it sometimes takes the storage node
devices, but often takes the server local drive. If the backup takes
the server local tape drive, the backup is running across the firewall
again :(. Is the only way to get the backup to run only on storage node
drive, to move the nsrserverhost out of the storage node devices and run
indexes separately?

This also happens when the staging policy i have set up runs - the data
stages to the localhost tape device instead of it's own tape device. I
could change the media pool to only allow the storage node devices, but
then again .. if nsrserverhost is not in client storage node list, no
index to master server.

Does this make sense to anyone.
I really appreciate any help.

thanks
