Old Config:
        - Networker 7.1.4 server, storage nodes, & clients
        - Notes Module 3.0
        - All backups done over ethernet
        - Domino 7 on Windows 2003 on a Dell 2800
        - OS disks on 2 x 36GB 10K RPM RAID/1
        - Domino on 4 x 73GB 15K RPM RAID/5 (3+1)

New Config:
        - Networker 7.1.4 server, storage nodes, & clients
        - Notes Module 3.0
        - All backups done over ethernet
        - Domino 7 on Windows 2003 on a Dell 2800
        - OS disks on 2 x 36GB 10K RPM RAID/1
        - Domino data moved to EMC CX3-80
                200GB LUN across 9 x 10K RPM 146GB disks (8+1 RAID/5)
Remaining space on that RAID group is used for other apps

The *only* change was moving the data to our small SAN array. Now, as you
can see above, the RAID config did change by adding more spindles, but the
RAID level is the same. There's also a good deal of read/write cache in
that CX3 array which helps out a lot.

Our problem now is that we've implemented transaction logging to move to
incremental backups. That works like a champ, but the restores take
*forever* (15 hours for a single DB). We've got cases open with Lotus and
Legato trying to find out where the problem with the restores is. I
personally think it's with the way Domino searches through the transaction
logs for the transactions that need to be applied, but that's just me =).

Hello,
That is the direction we are moving, utilizing SAN to host notes server
data, however, you did not mention wheather or not you were using ethernet

to do your backup that saw 80 % improvment or was it Snap Technogies,
block backups that saw this improvments ?
Do you use notes module before \after ? or was it regular file level
backups.
Please Detail your sol
