After answering I took a look at the original question and your
problem is really that the devices show up as Type: Processor, not
Type: Tape and Type: Autochanger.
jbconfig only looks for Autochangers.

Could it be that you see only some kind of FC/SCSI bridging device
(SCSI ID=0) and not the "real" devices at all?

That's a possibility. Sitting between the tape library and the Red Hat AS 4 server is a Qlogic SANbox Express 1400 device.
